Just getting started

Hello from sunny Orange County, California. I finally decided to start commuting to work 2 days a week via bicycle (35 miles one way). Yes, gas prices have forced me to finally look at this as an alternative. Even with a car that gets 30mpg, spending $6 a day on gas to and from work is too much. I'll only drive once a week, and be carpooling (with my wife) the other days.

I managed to get my old Schwinn High Plains (15 years old) tuned up and running again. I'll ride the beast for a few weeks until I decide (ie., save up enough money) on what I want for my next bike.

For those of you commuting on the Santa Ana River Trail, be on the lookout for a 6' 3" 220lb guy riding a mountian bike. Anybody that lets me draft will get a big thumbs up!

There are tons of us out there every day. Good luck on the commuting and let us know if you want to join us on any of the rides we post in the 'Road' section. People in SoCal get together every couple months for weekend rides.
