Hi there,
Living on the outskirts of a biggish city like Melbourne has its advantages. I live in the foothills of the Dandenong ranges which is a bit of an attraction for cyclists for its challenging hills and clean air. I work at a web/book publishing company just across a wide creek valley from my home. This means, I ride 15 kms (10 miles) of creek track and side road each way, when I don't just work from the home office. Wife and I share a small cylinder car, which stays put most days. I've recently put my Peugeot racer to sleep after 25 years of service and saving up for an decent replacement. On a Shogun MTB at the mo.
Used to live in the city, rode along the river to my job at The Age newspaper office.
Been riding since I could stand (some 40 years), and I am glad to be here.

Awesome through the warmer months, but probably a little hot for my liking -- we have quite a few days over 90 degrees in summer, and usually a couple over 105F!!
The average cold day in the middle of winter is about 52 to 54 degress, and a good winter day is about 60. We only 1 or 2 days a year below 50.
