Virginia says hello
Hey, I'm 15 and I live in Newport News, VA. My primary sport is running (cross country rocks) but I also love to bike. I try to bike anywhere close to my house and have done some on bike exploring. I sort of have a part time job and I bike commute to that.
Some day when I'm out on my own, I want to do some long distance touring (my family isn't really the biker type)

NN nmust be a great place to ride! Nice and flat for the most part, with several parks and such. With the area booming like it is, is the city making an effort to accommodate cycling?

Newport News and surrounding areas have HORRENDOUS traffic issues, plus all the roads have 45 - 55 mph speed limits and non-existant shoulders (I live in York County, but right near the NN line).
shipinabottle -> Go to https://bikevirginia.org/2006/index.htm to read about Bike Virginia's Tour de Love. It starts tomorrow in South Hill, VA. They accept walk-up registrations, so if you already have decent gear, you might want to consider it. I guess this is random, but I'm heading there by myself and I could offer a ride if you wanted to go. Send me an email at lindsayjones @ gmail.com (remove the spaces).
