New to this site and hope to find information to help decide about a new bike. Have used a 17 year old Specialized Hardrock, not very expensive but bought it when we lived in Morgan Hill (CA) -- an appropriate place no doubt to buy it -- live now in Sonoma County and use it for easy rides up to about 30 miles round trip. Every October do a fundraising ride and last year pedaled 100 Km, hill and all. Everyone agreed it is time to look at a new one. But there is so much out there that the choices freeze me into no decision at all. In the last few days have tried out Roubaix Elite, Sequoia Elite, a Trek 5000, a Trek Pilot...I am not a "racer" - want to be stable and secure (I am after all 64 but in tip top shape with no aches and pains or medical concerns), but looking for a lighter bike; considering a road bike if I can adjust to the forward lean & placement of the gears...suggestions?
