Hello From Southwest Michigan
It is great to find this forum as I have recently taken up riding and think I am becoming addicted. I tore the ACL on my right knee playing basketball in January so in June I started riding a beat up old mountain bike to get my leg back in shape. My brother saw me huffing and puffing down the road and brought me his mid-eighties vintage Fuji Sagres to ride.
I started riding it at the beginning of July and have logged about 1200 miles since then. I am presently looking for a deal on a bike so that I can get my brothers bike back to him. This forum has been great for knowlege accumulation as I look for my first bike.
I think I am done with basketball. I don't want to get hurt and not be able to ride.

Welcome to the board, hoogy.
Where are you in SW Michigan? K-zoo area? Just yesterday there was a big ride out of Three Oaks, the Apple Cider Century. Check it out next fall!
My in-laws have a place near Jones and Three Rivers. Pretty good riding in that area!

Thank you for welcoming me.
I live about 35 minutes from Jones, just across the state line from South Bend in a town called Edwardsburg. There is a lot of good riding north of town with many lakes and fairly smooth roads.
I am planning on Riding in the Apple Cider Century next year. Not quite ready for it this year.

Hey
I live in SE michigan, but my brother goes to WMU. I have been in your neck of the woods several times, including a few times on the michigander, the tour which my username is named after. I especially like the Kal-Haven. Ever see that trail?

Hey Michigander
I have seen the Kal-Haven Trail from both ends but have never been on the trail. That is something I plan to do next year if not yet this year.
Where is the Michigander ride?

The michigander crosses the state every year. There are like 5 or 6 different common routes which always get deviated on year to year, and a few routes which have only been done once. Last summer we went on a very zig zaggy course from Big Rapids to Mackinaw which was over 300 miles long. The year before that we went shoreline to shoreline, specificaly from Muskeegon to Algonac, which again was over 300 miles. Its a very fun 6 day long tour.
