Greetings from the Fla. Panhandle

Been riding Bicycles all my life but just resently got interested in some organized riding.
Am 60 years old and have decided to try to get into shape to ride a century before I'm too old to forget where I live. Riding a Lightning recumbent right now but looking into maybe a Giant FCR3 fitness model.

We have a nice 9 mile "rails to trails" in Milton, Fla. Wife and I traveled to Virginia a couple of weeks ago
to ride the New River trail. If you ever get the chance to head up that way, you gotta ride this trail.
It is a 57 mile trail that runs from Pulaski to Galax Va. Most of it travels beside the New river so you get to hear the small water falls along the way. We are going to go back BUT... will be in a little better shape.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Sounds like a lovely place to ride. And you are certainly NOT too old for a century or otherwise! Great going for both you and your wife. Welcome to the forums!

The blackwater century, in Milton, is later this month (10/21/06). There are also shorter rides, 18, 42, and 65 miles.

Good job! If you want a nice long ride, check out the Chief Ladiga Trail

The Natchez Trace in Mississippi is also very nice. Cars are allowed but they have to go 50mph and it's very bike friendly.

Welcome to the BF!
