Hey! From Massachusetts...
Nice place to hang! I'm a 54 year old fart from north central Massachusetts. I'm strictly a road rider, used to race back in the 70's and 80's as a USCF Cat III, now just ride for fun and fitness, to go along with a lot hiking and backpacking in New Hampshire.
See you all on the road! Max  |
welcome welcome!
i was in Central Mass (Worcester) for 9 months in 2000-2001... the road riding in the area is not bad. i guess the season is just starting in full force, eh? here it's been pretty nice for a few weeks (shorts and short-sleeves!) but there's still snow in the mountains near us but i've been down south to Italy and will be again May 1st weekend. welcome and enjoy the forums! |
Welcome from a fellow Nah Englandah!

Welcome Maxyboy!! lots of great riding up there in North Mass, and New Hampsha. Ever done the climb up Mount Washington?

Thanks Japple. Yex actually I did, way back in 1978 I think it was. The hardest climb I ever attempted. That year they had done some extensive work on the auto road and it had a lot of loose gravel on the shoulders. You had to stay right in the auto tire tracks to avoid bogging down. Plus, back then they gave us a 15 minute head start, then opened it to car traffic! And we didn't have the luxury of triple chainrings, I think I rode the entire way in a 39 x 28, 6-speed cluster, on a steel frame bike built by Tom Kellogg. Fortunately, it was a decent day, temperature in the 40's on the summit, and no more than 10mph winds. Since I'm a diehard backpacker and have climbed the mountain several dozen times, I know how nasty it can get up there!
