My new Benz..hehehe..lol

Hey Everyone,
I just got a hold of a bike made by Shimano with Mercedes Benz written all over it. It rides like a dream and is super super light. Im not to familiar with these bikes and am lookin to see if anyone has any solid information on em. I dont plan on doing any local mountain trails with it. I was going to let my g/f ride it since she needs a bike so that we can ride together. Its at the bike shop as i type getting respoked and brakes replaced etc etc. ANy info would be great.
Thanks

Attach pictures (g/f not the bike). Hope you have fun together. What do you ride?

Hello mastermeched, actually pictures of the bike would be more helpful in helping identify the bike :) .

Welcome to BF!

It's a folding mountain bike? Interesting. You might ask the MTB forum folks about it, then.

The price shown is 360,000 yan. That converts to just under $3,000.
That's seems like a lot for a "no-name" folding mountain bike.

Handy machine to have, if there are any folding mountains in your area.

Just curious. If it rides like a dream why does it need to be re-spoked?

Mercedes-Benz MB
The $3300, 24-pound Mercedes-Benz Mountain Bike is actually an AMP design built in California and sold by Mercedes-Benz dealers. It's unusual because it can be disassembled and stored in a large suitcase that easily fits in any Mercedes trunk.

The frame of the MB is a simple triangle of 6013 aluminum. The seat post is supported by a rolled-aluminum bracket embossed with the famous Mercedes 3-pointed star. The front fork is AMP's own F3 XC, a linkage-type design that has carbon-fiber downtubes and oil-damped coil springs, just like a motorcycle. The rear suspension is an AMP monoshock with an oil-damped coil spring.

AMP also makes its own hydraulic disc brakes, which all of us judged to be the best brakes in this group. MB's drivetrain is Shimano Deore DT. Build quality is extremely high, as you'd expect from a product carrying the Mercedes star, and one rider thought the Mercedes was the equal of Porsche's FS under most conditions.

I want the Jeep.

Smart arse.

I believe it was kept near the beach or rode there perhaps and the spokes might have corroded a little. Still rode like a dream even with the few spokes broken.
