Hello from snowy England
No biking today, far to slippery for a road bike. Joined today after finding this site via Google. I commute to London most days on my Allez but just upgraded to a Ridley. If you decide to ride in London, the main equipment you need is an AirZound horn! London pedestrians are menace. See you around, Steve.

Commuting from East Midlands
Oh no! I use the train! Midland Mainline has dedicated space for bikes and a free reservation service. Steve

I cycled to a turbo session last night here in Oxford - only once did I nearly kill myself!
There was all the panic on the news about ice, but it wasn't bad at all once I got out of the small residential streets.

50 miles from Brum
Hi there,
I am in the east midlands, about 50 miles from Brum. I originate from the west midlands though - Wolverhampton. Lived in Asia for a few years and S Africa for two before coming back to the UK. France is our favorite place though, so wide open compared to the UK.

Did you do much touring whilst in those exotic locales? It sounds like quite a varied bit of scenery.

Unfortunately I didnt do much touring in either Indonesia or S Africa. Indonesian roads are way too dangerous - the only time I went out was between 5:30 and 9:00 am on a Sunday morning when the main highway in Jakarta was closed to motor vehicles - just crowded then with joggers, roller bladers, cyclists and kids playing football. I used to do about 3 - 4 circuits, about 50 - 60 km and get off the roads before 8:30 and the ensuring mayhem!
Cycling in S Africa was avoided - the violent crime there is terrible and there were virtually no cyclists - you'd be mugged and shot for the bike! Sad world.

And some people think England is dangerous...not hardly compared to some other bits.
