Hello from Hermann, MO

Hi folks,

I'm here because I wanted some info about my (apparently rare) bike - an old Graco 10-speed - and decided to join.

I just moved to the central Missouri town of Hermann, which is a scenic tourist town just across the Missouri River from the KATY trail. With a great trail so close, I pulled out the old bike and I am getting ready to ride again. My previous home, in Cincinnati, Ohio's suburbs, didn't lend itself to good riding. Prior to now, I mostly used the bike to get around at (automotive road racing) racetracks all over the midwest, although I did do a fair amount of distance riding when I was a teenager (several decades ago. ;) )

Hello jhumason, trundle yourself (with some pictures) over to the Classic & Vintage forum and see if some of the experts can't give you a hand.

And, you might want to check out the regional sub forums to see if there's any members close to you. Good to see you picking up the habit again, and

Welcome to BF!

hello jhumason,

A friend of mine that lives in Portland,OR told me that Hermann,MO has posted on Bike Forum, and I had to come and see for myself. This is very cool, since I know that town pretty well, even though I live and was raised in Kansas City. You see, my father, is buried with my mother in St. Georges cementary in Hermann, along with my grandparents, two uncles and an aunt. My dads family had settled in Hermann, my grandparents originally came from Germany. My one uncle and two aunts that are left, still live on Stonehill Highway, down the street from the Stonehill Winery. Perhaps you know where that is? My uncle has a woodworking shop in town, called Wagner Brothers Woodworking. Maybe you know where it is. My brother had gone to high school there in Hermann, at the Hermann High School, along with a cousin.

You're right, Hermann is a great place to ride your bicycle. When I go down to Hermann to vist my aunts and uncle, I like to bring my Fugi hybrid, and ride on the roads around town, like out highway 19, towards Swiss, MO.
