Howdy from Vacaville, CA

Just wanted to say Hi!

Recently got back into cycling again after a 10 year lay off. 10 years spent drinking beer, eating lots of BBQ, getting married and all the fun that goes with it! Oh, did I mention that this English lad moved to the sunny climes of California?

So.. instead of a racing weight of 145lbs... I "bloomed" into a non-too-wonderous 220lb before shedding a few pounds down to 170.....

Hello Swampy, where are you from in England (check my signature!)? There are quite a few members in Northern California. What kind of riding do you do, other than racing?

Welcome to BF!

Hello, Swampy, from a fellow Vacavillian! (Oooh, can that be right? Hmmm...) Are you a member of the Monticello Cycling Club? Check out www.monticellocydcling.org and join us on one of our club rides!

Looking forward to seeing you on the road!

Hi there Swampy, from a neighboring Fairfieldian(that's gotta be wrong). I second the Monticello Cycling Club. Good rides with good people. I just started riding last year and always feel welcome. There are
weekend rides now, with weekday rides starting again next week, if I remember correctly.

Hello Swampy,

I am the husband, tandem captain and biking buddy of Red Rider, aka Deborah. I started riding for more than doinking around the end of October, 06. I've enjoyed riding with the Monticello club on Saturday rides and now that the weather is better will be riding during the week sometimes. Come on out and join us.

Considering how close you live to the Jelly Belly factory good luck on keeping the pounds down. It would take me about an eighty mile ride just to get there.

Lanky Lass. What brought you out to these sunny shores?

My parents dragged me with them when they emigrated many years ago... .

I've never gotten over the shock of the hot weather--we first lived in Norwalk, California, headed up to San Jose after a few years, and I wound up in Seattle where the climate is a tad bit closer to home .

I do enjoy a good rainy day .

My bike commute takes me a block from the Jelly Belly factory, and it was even a stop on a fun ride this last year. I got a water bottle from the Jelly Belly cycling team for participating in that ride. The trick is to just keep pedaling if you've got a hunger for some beans.

I lived in Bolton for 29 years... it was great as a kid, but the place went down hill faster than a fat man on a bike with ceramic wheel brearings during the late 90's. I really do like it better out here - although not being able to visit Old Trafford to see Man United really does pi$$ me off ever other week. Fox Soccer channel and pay per view really doesn't cut it. LOL. Although the ultimate irony is that the football (soccer) coverage on FSC is as every bit as good as SKY and BBC (given that they get their feed from SKY it's hardly suprising I guess..)

Aye, my father used to take the football pink until The Guardian stopped producing it separately, he just loved his United football .

We've got a coaching/training facility for Man U just up the road now (Can't remember the official name, but it's at what used to be Fort Dent, in Tukwila).

Thanks Dauphin, will do!

A Man United training facility in WA? Wow.... I knew the fans were all over the place but training facilities? I guess it does make sense... they could train there and play in rain whenever then want!!

I not entirely certain that MU actually train there, but I would suspect that if any premier calibre players emerge, MU will be first in line to sign them up .

The Interurban Trail follows the Green River banks through the complex. On the wrong day of the week it can be a maddening place to attempt to ride through .
