New, from Northern Jersey.

Hey guys, been a lurker on this great board for some time. Decided to sign up and introduce myself. Most of the people on this board have a great sense of humor.

My name is Nick and I'm from Northern New Jersey. I started cycling late summer, when I purchased a new Trek 1500 Discovery from a LBS. I immediately fell in love with it and rode about 500 miles in the first 2-3 months. I've been an avid runner and boxer for the past few years and was looking for something else to add to my routine. Other than that, just waiting for the warm weather to return. Maybe ride with some of you this year.

it's good to see another person from nj. how's riding/traffic up your way? i'm from the cumberland county area.
i used to run in hs and junior college but knees/ankles failed me (10 miles a day x 3, sprints, and events) so i gave it up, went to bicycling (majorly commited 1979 to present).
there's lots of cool people here w/ info you can take or leave.
welcome again!

Yup, I've found your Foo and after a second of saying, WTF is this board about, I figured it out.

The avatar is just a little logo I created a couple years ago for a friend. I have 2 German Shepherd Dogs.

Thanks for the welcome!

Depending on which route I take from home, the traffic is fairly light. There are some roads that I travel that almost cause a physical fight every time I venture out for distance. People don't pay attention and almost hit me a few times last year.

10 miles per day? That's pretty insane. I can't imagine recovering from that every day. I ran a 9 mile run yesterday. I have some light sores on my feet and my legs are pretty sore at the moment. I love to ride and run. Gives me a chance to change it up.

Thanks!

Gee, roads with inattentive drivers who seems blind to cyclists, could you possibly be talking about Sky Line drive or Ringwood Ave? I used to live in Oakland and one of my favorite rides was up to and around Greenwood Lake, but on weekends, especially during the summer, it was a death defying act.
