Iv got a crappy Quest Vanquish MTB im riding right now. Not much, but it does its job. Full suspension, Shimano tourney rear derauler, twist shifters. I mostly ride around campus (Michigan State University in East Lansing Mi.) Not so much trails, more just for recreation right now, but Im planning on buying a road bike and joing the cycling team soon.

on a side note, anyone have any info on the quest vanquish MTB? Iv been looking around, and so far I havent seen anything on the net in regards to specs or anything. Is it that low level that noone has one?

I'd have to say the Quest is fairly low end, and you're correct, there's not much on it. The Shimano Tourney RD is usually found on low level bikes.

You could probably stand to do an upgrade on the MTB, possibly by looking at the local CL. CL is a great place to look for bikes, although the competition will be a bit fiercer because you're in a college town. Still, you could possibly pick up something decent, both for road and MTB bikes.

There's quite a few BF members in Michingan, so you might want to check into the Great Lakes regional forum and say hello to your fellow locals.

WELCOME alaphere... read as much as you can here..research old threads as well. I got a handle on some companies on the market;shops, stores on the net, ideas, most of which I didn't follow BUT..I'm a big believer in concensus, more so than just plain askin' people.I tell new members"you'll learn more by accident" than you intend to learn.Wow it's late, your first post, you should see this, anyway. If you don't even LOOK at the post TMRO, shame on you !!..this IS your first!!!

Hi alaphere,

Welcome!

I'm about a 20 minute ride from you in Lansing. I ride over to EL and campus from time to time. If you decide to go for a used bike, let me know and I'll give you some leads if I can. Check out MSU Bikes too. Very active group. They sell used bikes but the prices are high compared to Lansing.
