Yet another noob...
Hello everyone. After much lurking and reading, I decided that I would join up and introduce myself. I used to ride a decent amount when I lived in Cleveland, but after moving to Northwest Indiana I found myself not as inclined to ride. Mainly because I left my bike in Cleveland and also because my new job was a little more time intense than my old one.
Well after 2 years of not "being inclined" and ballooning to 260lbs I figure there is no better time than now to start up again. I used to ride an old junker mountain bike around for fun, but seeing as I have quite a bit of nice asphalt and tracks around here I am on the prowl for a cheap road bike.
I am sure you will find me lurking in the classifieds and what not while I try to find something to ride. So if anyone in the Valparaiso / Northwest Indiana area has any suggestions on a place to look for a cheap starter road bike (~$100) drop me a PM, email, or anything!

Hello Hadrien, I expect that if you've been lurking that you've probaby found those nice folks over at the Clydes/Athenas forum--there are some great motivators over there .
As for a starter road bike, there's a sticky in the C/A forum for bigger guys. An older steel frame bike is pretty forgiving of weight, and it's a smooth ride, too. Check with your local Craigslist, or perhaps the local thrifts/pawnshops.
If you need to have us let you know if a bike is suitable, well, check with the C/A forum, or the Classic & Vintage forum. We will do what we can to get you on the road .

Welcome, Hadrien. In addition to Craigslist, you might try pawnshops. Also, some LBS'es sell used bikes.
