Howdy

Hi y'all,

I'm new to cycling for fitness, and am trying to lose a bunch of weight on my bike. Unfortunately, I live in the suburban flat jungle of Houston Texas, where the roads aren't very bike friendly. Any advice for someone starting to bike to lose weight, I'm all ears.

Hello chinotex, I think even if you don't fit the Clydesdales definition, they certainly have experience with weight loss questions, so you might poke around in that forum.

Also, check out the regional forum for Texas.

Welcome to BF!

I live in Houston and I've lost 30 lbs in the last 18 months. Its solid "here to stay" weight loss, I hope. I had to get new clothes because I lost lots of inches. I am still losing.

How? Ride frequently. I mean like 5 times a week and get to the point where you can ride 20-25 miles each ride. There are lots of places to ride in and around Houston. Don't knock it so. You'd be surprised. What part of Houston do you live in?
