long jurney.. it's been worth it!!

every winter end when cyclist rejoice warm weather to going cycling outdoor again, I feel sad and cranky..

reason is i'm snowboarder for last 6years, I haven't found any sport much fun, exiting as snowboading.

This winter was no exception.. but, I had enough to feel depressed for post winter blue, I decide give

mountain biking shot!! being curious about mountain biking before, I start eyeshoping target, sportauthority

,models..ect (I guess some of us been there before~ha ha). with limited buget(about $200,I though that

was enough money to buy decent bike) I start frustrated what kind of bicycle I shoud buy.. they all

shiny, rugged, cool looking. even full suspension bike is sell for $120(wow~) but, riding those bicycle in

store for 5~10min don't give me idea how would they perform in real street and most importantly in real

mountain!!!

so I though real bicycle shop might be give me better idea what I do. after hopping store to store listen

what they offer, reading tons of catalog, I realize I put myself in even more trouble..

Those sexy looking full suspension bike starting at least $700 to god konw why so expansive (do they

comes with dvd player and airbag??) zillion dollar..

standard has been rise, I have to start from zero. but, weather starts warm and sunny I becoming

desperate to make final buying decision.

so one day I called my snowboarding buddy who happen to be riding moutain bike for years to help me

out. after some talking I ended up buy his well equiped hardtail mountain bike.. I know how he ride

snowboard, I figue he don't own anything broke easily..

The day I pick up my first real bike, I ask my friend to drop me far away from my house. he smiled konw

why I mean.

I haven't ride bicycle almost 20years but, I don't care~!!

I start ride.. ride... ride... ended up ride almost 4hours that night. I don't know why even I feel

exhausted I couldn't stop pedaling.. I don't want to go home!!

After that I knew I'm totally hooked.

I just rode 30miles today to local single track and park near by. I know it's not blackcomb, british

colombia and riding off-road single track wasn't easy as I though. I was bit scared and exited sametime..

but, boy~ wasn't that fun!! I even did atempt riding off big rock climbing and log drop(as my level of

skill/experience.. I only been ride a week and half). I failed both got myself nasty scratch and bruise on

my leg and arm. as firm believer of you only learn much as you fail, It didn't discourage me at all.

I can't wait until next chance to ride some place new...

one of the greatest snowboarder said once "there is no right way to how snowboarding should be.. you

have to find you own way to ride..."

I don't want to be the most technical rider or guy who throw the biggest drop in the moutain. I just don't

want to this craving to ride and the most importantly having fun like kid go away anytime soon...

You sound as if you are off to a great start, and the Salsa's a nice bike! Keep enjoying yourself--you may even forget about snowboarding...[I'm not serious about that]

Welcome to BF!

No, riding a bike is a great year round activity, so even if you go snowboarding, you could possibly come some hardcore MTB whilst doing snowboarding. It's certainly something to look forward to!
