Newbie from Worcester
pronounced Woostah by the locals. I'm a pre-newbie I guess, I don't have a bike yet but I really want to get back to riding after about 17 years. I'm going to try and refurb my old Puegot but in the meantime I'm in the market for an entry level roadbike that's low on the $$$ side of things (I'm a teacher so I ain't gots no money).

Hey, didn't I just see you elsewhere? Yes, check out refurbishing the Pug. How much of a budget are we talking here, by the way?

A couple hundred bucks for a refurb is easily doable, as for a new purchase...well I guess that depends. Looking at the Dawes in question on ebay, they're about 200+ shipping but again I am wary of the quality.

Any thoughts? There are also some Merciers and Motobecanes around 300-400 that seem similar in terms of quality. Am I wrong in assuming these companies have sold their nameplates and are allowing cheaper versions of what I seem to recall were some pretty nice bikes?
