Hello from Merritt Island, FLA

Hi,
I've been riding my Cannondale around Cocoa Beach, Orlando, and Merritt Island for 16 years- I bought it with my first full pay check when I finally got a "real job" after college. I've taken it to Europe, where I rode from France into Switzerland and back (not really that long a ride, but it was hillier than I'm used to here in Flat FLA.) Most of my riding is urban, on surface roads and bike paths, but I have no problem taking the bike on the beach at low tide. A very good rinse in fresh water, a few hours drying in the FLA sun, and more oil, and it's fine.
I've replaced parts that wear out after literally thousands of miles, but no big overhaul.

I hadn't ridden in about three years, but I had taken up jogging. Then I fractured my tibia and can't jog anymore, so I'm back on the bike. Why did I ever quit???

I ride almost daily, but as I get older the heat really gets to me sooner, so I don't seem to go as far as I used to. I was 25 when I bought the bike... I'm a little slower now, but no less nimble.
I've got some tech. questions, which is why I joined the forum. I'll post them wherever they belong.

If you're in Brevard and see a guy on a black Cannondale with a white helmet sweatin' like crazy, wave at him!

Hello Paul, what year is your Cannondale? It sounds like an excellent companion if it is still working hard for you.

Don't forget to check out the regional forums--there are a lot of Floridians here on the board.

Welcome to BF!

Hi East Hill,
It's a 91 and I don't want to replace it, just fix the cranks. We're very attached!

Cranks should be easy enough. If necessary, try the C & V forum--there's a sticky there for 'in search of' . Photos are mandatory, though :) .
