370+ and ready for a change.
hello all i have been trolling this forum for a few days now, not sure when i wanted to pipe up but hey here goes. first of all let me start by saying i am not usually a poster persey but once i warm up here ill be a regular, especailly once i actually get my ride.
i am in the research mode, (AKA no cash mode) family vacation and "Its not on the List" but once i raise the funds ill be getting it all started.
first of all i am heavy to say the least. i weigh 370 or something but i am told i hold my weight well because mose people think i am well under 300... i will say that i am very strong... so i beleive i am carting around a ton of muscle, good for me i want the fat gone ASAP.
i used to be a Avid rider when i was in High School i rode Mountain, Street and BMX and i was good at it. i prefered to ride than to get my license, my parents thought i was nuts, but hey thats who i am.
i was 195 graduating HS with about 8% BF... Now 17 years later... i am a 370+ pound mess... my BMI is something like 51.5. i am not happy with me. i was hovering around 270/280 but i quit smoking (yes i smoked for 13 years started as a sophomore in HS, had to be a "Cool Kid") its been like 5.5 years since my last cigarette but i ballooned up like a georgia tick when i quit.
Reality is i know that Bike riding is a longshot for me but its something i want to do very badly and that to me is better that what i have had in the past which has been nothing. i honestly feel that if i saddle up again and get past that awkwarness of being that sideshow for those to stare at ill be ok.
anyway thats me and i look forward to being a part of this sweet community i found.
and i cant beleive i got the name "GhosstRider" i love it.
so for now ill see ya and dont sweat the small stuff

Welcome, Ghostrider. I think biking is less of a long shot than you might think. There's a tremendous amount of collective knowledge and support over in the Clydesdales forum. I think you can make it happen for yourself.

You pretty much just described my life. Healthy and athletic until my early 20's, then BOOM! I weighed what you do about 2 years ago, then I got a bike.
Now I'm 280lbs and still slowly losing.
Biking at our weight is doable, welcome aboard!

You will be fine. If you've been trolling, you know that the C/A forum is there to help encourage you. Perhaps one day you will even contribute to the Clydes in Kilts thread . Even if all you do is lurk, we're here to help get you back on the bike.
