Hello from Colombia...

Hi everyone everywhere....

I'm back on bikes after a 13 year using public transport and autos... So I'm very happy. I do live in Bogota, with a pretty weather to ride all year long . I commute everyday to my job and do a lot of road on weekends...

Regards

Hugo

Oooh, Bogota... We've heard all about Bogota and bikes. In fact, I believe your former mayor has come to my city to speak. Welcome from a resident of yet another bike-friendly city.

Excellent! The more people from the more parts of the world we have, the more interesting this place gets. Welcome! Tell us a bit about cycling in Col0mbia?

Welcome from Riga, Latvia! My father lived in Colombia in the 1960s and took me there as a child. What a beautiful country!

Hi you all....

Well, soon I'll post some pics of my bike. I sell my commuter and roadie and build frame up a new commuter. It's a Kinesis Aluminium frame, Deore grupo, Aluminium Alexrims, 26*1.5" slick tires...

About Bogotá, it is really a bike friendly city, with about 8 million inhabitants, has 300+ km of dedicated roads for bikes ("ciclorutas" in spanish), and more to coming. As I told before, weather here is pretty fine for cycling: 21C (70F) temperature all year long and a relative humidity of 40%. I cycle 20-25 km (12.5 - 15.5 mi) a day in workdays and 60-70 km per day on weekends. And there are some alternative transport (bike, mass transit) awareness programs, driven by city government. As "No car day" in february, so motorists are becoming more aware of bikes....

Regards

Hugo

That's great Hugo, I am really looking forward to seeing photos. We don't seem to have enough members from South/Central America here (although there's crtreedude in Costa Rica), and yet I know there must be others out there like me who would like to learn more.
