Started riding a bicycle last year at age 57. Rode just under 2100 miles. 2200 miles so far this year including a ride from Baltimore, MD back to my home in Maine. I'm looking for advice on touring saddles. I've read in a couple of places that the Brooks B17 is a good touring saddle. Am planning to ride from Myrtle Beach, SC to Baltimore next summer as the next leg of the Eastcoast Greenway Trail and the prospect of having to use the stock seat that came on my bike for another season of riding is not something I look forward to. Any recommendations on saddles that are well suited to touring would be appreciated. I have a cannondale t2000 am 5'10" and eigh 215 lbs if those facts are part of the consideration as to what might be a good saddle. Wayne

Hello Wayne, all I can tell you is that there are a lot of very happy Brooks customers out there :) . Sometimes the Brooks fits perfectly right out of the box, and sometimes the Brooks needs a bit of time to adjust to your rear end...

Welcome to BF!

Hello Wayne, nice to hear from other Cannondale T2000 riders. I have used a Brooks B17 in the past on other bikes so when I got my new 2007 T2000 it was my intention to replace the stock saddle ( Fi'zi:k Rodine Mg ) with a new B17. I thought that I would give the stock saddle a chance and as far as I am concerned after several thousand kilometers, the stock saddle works for me as well as my B17 did. I really didn,t notice that the B17 was better than the Fi'zi:k saddle so I'm not changing. Although Brooks B17 are great saddles they are not for everyone. I ruined a B17 a few years ago by riding it in the rain too much, but when you are touring and it's raining everything gets wet. For comparison I am 6'1" 230 lbs. but and I tend to ride in a more upright position so I tend to have more weight on the saddle than I normally would and my B17 worked well for me.
Happy saddle hunting and touring.
