Greetings from Silver Spring, MD
Hey everybody. This is Nick, a 50 yr old recreational biker from Silver Spring MD. I am also a federal employee going on 29 years of service; there is a light at the end of this tunnel. My lifetime bikes: something from the Far East with 20" wheels (early 60's); a Columbia with 16" wheels and a 3spd Sturmey-Archer grip shifter (late 60's); 1970 Raleigh Sports in BRG with the 3spd Sturmey-Archer; 1985 Schwinn Traveler; 1990? Cannondale R? (with the "custom" artsy factory paint job); another early '90s Cannondale (R300?); mid-90's Specialized Hard Rock and an Expedition; 1985 Bridgestone 200; 2005 Schwinn Voyageur with the 7spd integrated hub shifter. I try to bike downtown to work on the Capital Crescent trail; on weekends in the summer I usually get in a Sunday ride in Rock Creek Park. The DC area is a biker's Mecca for sure. My current project is I stripped/sanded/repainted the Bridgestone (metalflake blue) and am having my LBS reassemble it because I lack bike tools (and he is a nice guy) and it needs cables, chain, etc. I've done some triathlons and duathlons in the past but I'm down to once a year just for fun. Too bad since the bikes have really gotten incredible these days. My dream bikes would probably be either Cervelo or Felt, but I love the Bridgestone and Schwinn. Dream ride is to ride up the C&O Canal towpath to where it connects to another trail and ends in Pittsburgh, preferably with one of my sons. Cheers.

Welcome Nick...Nice bike collection...
I grew up in Rockville and head home periodically but don't get to ride much when I am there. The place has changed quite a bit the last 20 years...
My father is cyclist and volunteers on the C&O Canal. He recently rode the entire Canal...again...
He has also rode that route from Pittsburgh down to DC and has nothing but good things to say about it (except for a small portion on a highway)...
There is also some old part of the PA Turnpike you can ride. He said that was pretty eerie...
There is nothing like riding with family...
P.S....Go Skins!!!

Hello Nick, perhaps when you get settled in you could wander over to the Classic & Vintage forum and show us photos of all those bikes
