Hello from Central Illinois

Hi Everyone,

My name is Phil and live in Cantrall, IL just north of Springfield. I have been riding again since 05, when I purchased a new Raleigh Grand Prix. They have made many improvements since my '74 Grand Prix, when they were referred to as "English Racers".

I have been riding as much as possible lately, although the time is limited with senior care going on right now. I'm really hoping to bike to work soon; it's getting the schedule to work with the distance involved (12 miles).

My thrill of the day...just received my first app. from AARP!

Hello Phil, do you still have the old Gran Prix?

Let's get some comparison photos going--old and new, head to head!

[I am a Classic & Vintage nut, by the way ].

Welcome to BF!

Still have it

Hi East Hill,

I sure do have the '74 Grand Prix; it's hanging from the garage ceiling at the moment. I'll get some pict's of both that and the 05 and post them.

Oh, brilliant!

I know the C & V folks would love to see the '78 model in particular (hint), but I would enjoy seeing the old and new together...

Whoops! That is a '74 Grand Prix, not a '78. Got my lines crossed on that with another vehicle I had.

All those Gran Prix models can be confusing .

Still, if the '72 is a Raleigh, we'd love to see both bikes!
