Hello from up-state New York

Hello, found this great forum and wanted to say hello. My SO and me just relocated here from bike unfriendly Long Island. Used to get around exclusively by pedal power as a kid back in the '60's. Grew up (more or less) and purchased a tank of a World Sport. Used it to work off a lot of steam in the middle of a divorce, put about 4000 miles on that baby. Anyway, we are looking to get back into the sport to take advantage of the wonderful area we find ourselves in, lots of hills, woods and great back roads to ride. I will be using the brain power available here in order to make an informed decision as far as correct bikes and sundries. Anyway, nice to be here!

Hello Gary, are you leaning to road cycling, or mountain biking? Or do you not know yet?

Welcome to BF!

prob a bit of both, from what I'm reading a hybrid or hardtail mtn bike. We have an old Gitane tandem which we have used a few times, but it is a little funky in the handling dept. Plus, we live in a pretty hilly area, so good gearing is a must.

Remember, hills are GOOD for you.

At least you have plenty of time to mull it over, unless you are determined to get out there and do some winter commuting...
