Hi from Australia

The newbie post!

I'm very new back in to riding. In fact it's been 18 years, because I was hit by a car at 12 while riding in a bike and scared off. Chipped tail bones will tend to do that!

My husband and I, with our two children, have decided to sell our car in two months and use bicycles combined with public transport. My husband has an Avanti Ventura MTB and I'm looking for a bike too.

We will use a trailer for the 3 year old for safety commuting in a high traffic area with temperamental weather (no snow) and the 10 year old will go on a trail on bike to keep her safe too until she gains more experience and solid road sense.

I'm looking for advice on the best type of bike, but I'm looking for a hybrid/comfort bike most likely.

Hi everyone and it's great to be on this forum!

Hola! There's a few Aussies around here - probably more now that Summer's coming.

I bought an Avanti Blade as a commuter when I lived in Perth so something siliar to that might be ok for you. I would advise you to buy from a bike shop and not K-Mart or Big W because, even though you will spend more money, you will get better advice and better quality cycles.

Hello noodella, it sounds as if you've already got some solid plans set up for the family, but visit the Living Car free and Utility Cycling forums to get some more tips and hints.

Welcome to BF!
