Bike Forums - New guy on the block.

Thanks for your kind welcome to Bike Forums. My name is Joe Saling and I live, and have for 67 years, in Bridgewater, NJ. I have been racing since I was 15 and have represented the Somerset Wheelmen for my entire cycling career.

I have been fortunate enough to win 18 National Championships in 7 different disciplines (tandem TT, individual TT, criterium, road, points race and both individual and team pursuit) and 5 Pan American Masters Championships. I'm really not that good, I just get to race against old men!

I have been announcing cycling events for about 30 years and my resume includes the Tour of Somerville, many National Championships, Pan American and Olympic Trials, the Pan American Games in Indianapolis and the World Cycling Championships in Colorado Springs in 1986. I enjoy announcing almost as much as racing my bike!

My wife Dottie and daughters Amy and Beth have all raced and two of our four grandsons are presently racing and have both won state championships this past season. Dottie, who comes from a bike racing family, spent 17 years on the US Olympic Committee chairing the Selection Committe for the majority of that time. Her commmitte reviewed the selection procedures for all Olympic and Pan Am sports governing bodies.

We are both retired giving us more time to ride, race and just mess around in general. We look forward to batting the bike breeze on Bike Forums. Nothing better than talking bike STUFF (almost nothing anyway!)
