Hi from La Mesa, CA

So, I'm new here...obviously.

My name is Jim and I took up road riding in May of '07. I ride a 2004 Tirreno Razza 2.0 with Speedplay Zero pedals. Not the best bike in the world but it does its job. Maybe in a few years I will consider myself worthy of getting a 'real' (read carbon) bike.

I try to get as much riding in as possible, but with work and school it's kind of hard, though I'm sure you know that already. I commute to my jobs as a trumpet teacher and bagpipe clinician at a local music store and a local high school; and when school starts back up on Monday, I'll be riding there as much as possible, too.

So yeah. Hi everyone.

Jim

Hi Jim--bagpipe technician? Do you have a kilt, then? Are you going to commute wearing your kilt? Don't forget to check out the SoCal regional forum--there's always a lot going on over in that forum.

Welcome to BF!

Yes, I do have a kilt, however, I won't be commuting in it. My saddle isn't quite comfortable enough for that one.

Too bad! If you have the time and inclination, perhaps you could post a photo of you wearing the kilt here:

Yup sounds like your time is under wraps, but I hope that you get more riding time now that the weather is in your favor and that you will have time to use a kilt in one of riding adventures with pics. East Hill would love to see this hehehe, just pulling your leg, East Hill. Welcome to BF.

Jim:

I assume that your bagpipe work is at my alma mater, Helix, which is not only in La Mesa but the only band in town I know that has a bagpipe contingent. Go, Scotties!

If it's not to hard for you to get up to the Sorrento Valley area, we'd love to see you on the San Diego Bicycle Club Saturday rides. The route is nice, and there are seven rides to cover all abilities, for the "A" ride (which has a lot of the local elite riders) to the "D-5" ride, which is for pure beginners looking to ride with others. It is a good time and great training.
