New In Lincoln, Nebraska

Hello all.

Just got into road cycling last september. Since I'm in Nebraska there's not much chance to ride during the winter (snow + 23's = no go), but I'm psyched to get back into the swing of things in March.
I got addicted right away. I put in about 600 miles in the first two months. Unfortunately, then it snowed. Then it snowed again. And again, and again, and again. I've commuted 4 days through all of january!

I'll be splitting my riding between Lincoln and Des Moines, Iowa. Still trying to find good information on next years rides around Lincoln, Des Moines is easy though (

I'm getting rid of my car next month (still have my wife's, but it's not always available) and so I'm going to try to do the year round every day commute. I'm still trying to figure out one last commute problem: Lightning. Do people usually just wait out thunderstorms?
For snow I'll be buying a mtb, probably with nice grippy tires and plan to fall a lot.
Rain is easy, you change clothes.
Heat, you change clothes.
Cold, lots of schnazzy clothes.

Hi crhilton, I've never personally had to experience a thunderstorm along with a ride, but I bet the Commuting, Touring, and Long Distance Riding forums can probably give you some ideas.

Welcome to BF!
