Seattle Rider on the move

Though I have ridden a bicycle for years, I would have to classify myself as a NEWBIE when it comes to most stuff involving a bicycle. I don't watch the tour, I fall over whenever I get on a fixie and I can't change a mt-bike tire or pump up a shock to save my life.

I'm trying to remedy that, my first step was to go work in a bike shop. No I'm not doing maintenance, I fit shoes and sell clothing!--but I am making biking an even bigger part of my life than just a means of transportation, now I am doing it for the pure joy of being out on a bike.

I would have to say that hiking is my greatest love, followed closely by snowboarding. I recently purchased through my shop, a Trek WSD 6700 which I adore. It's so light and responsive! I want to make it more of an off-road touring bike by getting a suitable rack, pans and the like for her. Other projects on the horizon are the eventual build-up of a road bike--probably a soma speedster--and gearing up for summer riding events!

So thanx to all who have answered my questions, see you out on the road/trail!
