Groovy

Hello everyone. New to the forum. I started biking again a little over a year ago. I biked allot in college years and years ago. Since then I've gotten fat! I started riding again because..... well..... I'm fat and 40 and I have young kids and I'd like to be able to do things with them in the future. I like moutain biking and road biking. Though the majority of my riding is commuting too work. 20 miles round trip- usually three days a week. I'm a transplanted east-coaster in the Kansas city area. Christian freak, Father of two, avid hunter, banjo player and the brewer of whatever you can think of.

Hey, welcome! Banjo player huh? I can scrape along on the fiddle but I really should practice more. Trouble is, I'm always out riding my bike!

Welcome

Welcome to the forums! I have been a long time rider of my mountain bike (mainly on dirt roads) and last year finally bought a road bike. I live about an hour south of you on the kansas side. If you are ever coming down this way give send me an email and I will show you some of my rides. Good luck on the fitness and keep safe.

Medicmike, I pray your not in Chapman. I saw some pictures from someone who lives there before they got excavtuated. How sad..

East Hill, I ride a Fuji Newest 3.0. Its an aluminum road bike with a carbon front fork. I like this model becuase in addition to the standard brake levers, Fuji put a second set of brake levers up high on the top straight part of the handlebars. So once I get to the urban part of my commute, I can sit up more straight like a mountain bike for better visibility.

Not a whole lot of mods to the bike. I added a rear rack to hold a bag to hold my clothes. A mirror, cycle computer, and a radio to the handlebars (yes.. a radio..) I got a couple pictures I'm going to post to the commuter section.
