Greetings from ME

Hi folks. Just joined up and excited to be part of a large, like-minded (?), community. I have lived in the greater Portland area since 7/00. I traveled here via Colorado with my then future wife (she grew up here). I lived in the Aspen area for just shy of 8 years. I finally got out of the mid-west (Michigan) where I was hatched and reared. I got into cycling in '86 when I graduated high school and bought a steel Bianchi and dreams of being unemployed for my last summer of freedom. My folks only played the "why don't you get a job" card when I bummed 20 bucks for a movie with friends once the entire summer, awsome.
A few years later I bought a Trek 2300 pro which I rode up till last October when I bought a Colnago C50. The Trek was great for 17 years (it'd have to be!) and haven't put any road milage on Calvino (the Colnago) to see how it rides but man am I excited to ride it...as soon as this butt load of snow melts which looks to be about July right now.
I've had a multitude of jobs in my 40 years and am currently a paramedic/fire fighter in South Portland. Very satisfying work full of interesting people and challenging. I'm a fair weather rider so I always hope for dry summers. I'm currently working on a fixed gear bike for the rainy days and will be looking for help on some build ideas.
Happy to be here and looking forward to reading some ideas and thoughts.
Stay safe
Patrick

Hi,
and welcome. You will find there's a few Maineiacs here. I don't like riding when it's freezing either.

Here's hoping we get an early Spring! (And a fairly dry one this time)

Hi Patrick, just to tease you, there's a Winter Cycling forum .

I do have to say that almost everyone in your situation eventually decides that the snow drifts are just too much! I know one of our members has given up riding for Lent. Well, actually, he has given up reading his favourite forum, Classic & Vintage for Lent!

Welcome to BF!
