Greetings from Austin commuter

Hi! I'm fairly new to cycling having moved here and purchasing a bike, using that as my daily rider. Last month I decided to enter the Tour de Cure and was looking for more events around Austin to partake in when I happened upon this site.

Hi JB, there are quite a few Austinites here, and even more members who are participating in the various Tour de Cures around the country. It's a great cause!

What kind of bike have you got?

Welcome to BF!

Soon that Texas regional forum will be just as big as the SoCal forum.

Welcome to BF, and good luck on the Tour.
We may all seem odd now, but soon you'll realize our alternate universe.

Undoubtedly

Thanks! I'll check out bikemojo today

I've got a Miyata Nimbus which I bought stock from a silent auction at the University I work at. Since then, I've replaced the crank twice, first with a Shimano 105 which stripped the left crank arm in about 5 minutes of really getting on it and then with the SRAM Rival crank and BB. That is working great. I put some new Armadillo's on it last week and those are must better to ride on, though I'm still a bit anxious about wet weather, as it was this morning. I did keep up with traffic on Guadalupe, so they are not that bad. I was hit by a car and so had to replace the rear derailler and chain. I've also just started riding with Sidi Ergo 1 and put on clipless pedals and am learning to ride them with the most efficiency. Next up, I'll be replacing the rims to get some lightweight ones. Then I'll work on the girl's bike so we can hit the town together.

RobbieTunes, I live in a town where the unofficial motto is "Keep Austin Weird". Don't worry about seeming odd. I love this town for everything that it is.

Thank you for the welcome
