Hello from Bunks-TJ

I have been lurking here for a little while and figured it was about time I introduce myself. I am a, public school, math teacher who lives in Manassas Va. In college I rode a Sugar 3 somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 miles of single track a week; and loved every minute of it.

Here it is a few years later and I want to get back into biking. I am thinking about getting a roadie, but I am fairly strapped in the cash department (so no carbon-fiber for me ). I think I am going to start looking for an old steelie to get me around. I want to ride for run and to keep in shape, and may even start commuting the 11 miles to work if I get back into decent shape.

I really know almost nothing about road bikes, so I have a lot of learning ahead of me. all suggestions are welcome

I look forward to meeting everyone.

Hi Bunks, nothing wrong at all with a good steel bike! Check out the eBay and CL finds stickie in the Classic & Vintage forum. There are a few C & Vers in your area who might be able to give you some assistance, too.

Welcome to BF!

thanks East Hill

i am also considering trying to find (the more readily, and cheaply, available) early 90s rigid mountain bike and doing some sort of a conversion on it.
