Hi from Seattle

Hi all,

I got back into cycling last year after 14 years away. Now I'm into lots of road riding and love going for long rides, solo or with my brothers. Favorite rides are century group rides at the moment. Used to mountain bike as a teenager, and maybe I'll get back into it again, but now the road is calling me.

I recently got into wrenching and started fixing up old road bikes and getting more of my family riding too. I just picked up an old nishiki that I'm converting into a fixed gear to give that a try. Right now it's bare metal waiting paint.

Anyway, glad I found this place.

Ty

Guess I'm not the only one that took a long break from cycling...

Last summer I got back into biking around mid July, and have put in over 3000 miles since. Been commuting through the winter and riding with the Tacoma Wheelmen. We did meet up with the Seattle Randonneurs to ride Vashon Island a month or so ago. If you like long rides, get together with them if you haven't already. I paid for my ticket for the STP this last weekend, maybe we'll see each other on the road sometime... I'll probably be on the green Rans Tailwind with a fairing and hi vis green aerotrunk. Might have seen me on the Hilly Chilly last month.

Make sure you check out the Northwest forum here on Bikeforums...occasional chatter about upcoming rides, such as the McClinchy Mile coming up this Saturday (March 15) in Arlington...

Hi BrokenSpokes, where do you normally ride?

I can be found on the Cedar Creek Trail, Interurban and Green River Trails, and also at Big Soos Creek Trail.

Welcome to BF!

Welcome!
You are going to love the fixed gear! Those old Nishikis are great.

There's no better feeling than putting together a bicycle for a family member. It's such a personal gift that an of the shelf bike can't compare to.
