Hello from Boston

Hello,

I am a runner that has been thinking about doing a triathlon and wanting to get into biking. I have biked in that past but never very seriously. I am very excited to start getting into this new sport and am looking forward to getting advice from more seasoned bikers. I have always thought that I would really enjoy cycling once I get past the initial difficulties! I can't wait to get started!

Hello esmy1980, cycling is a lot of fun! What bikes are you looking at for the triathlon?

Welcome to BF!

I don't actually know yet what sort of bike I am looking for. I am on a pretty limited budget and am just starting to look around although I am dying to get on the road and start cycling. If you have any suggestions I am all ears!

Under $250 if at all possible. I know that I might have to look into used bikes as well but I also need to figure out what type of bike would work for me.

You'd want to do some shopping to see what size you would need, but how about something like this:

No photos, but the Super Course is a nice bike...

Those would certainly be in your price range, and get you started at least.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. Those look like great options. I will go into a bike shop to find out what size bike I need.

Great! Let us know how you do . Keep in mind that because of today's sloping top tube, the bikes in the LBS may be sized a bit shorter than the older steel bikes...

Welcome

I lived in Boston for four years. It's a great town to get out and bike around. Good Luck!
