What up from Maine.

What's up kids. New here Origonally from Londonderry, NH but I now go to school/live in Portland Maine. I ride a couple of pigs (Kona Stinky DL, Kona Roast). But am focusing on turning the Panasonic I bought for a warm case of PBR into a ss/fixie.

Yeah I know pretty nasty components. Will be totally different in a couple of days.

Immediate plans:
-Strip, clean, slavage what I can.
-Do a quick rebuild of the hubs for immediate use including removing extra cogs.
-Get some good rubber on it.
-Remove the god aweful chain and rear deraileur.
-Hack me up some handle bars (maybe cut these up or put on one of my spair risers.
-MOST importantly ride it and figure out what I want on it.

Please don't hack off any of the braze-ons, ok? Please?

Eventually you might want to re-gear the bike, or someone down the line might.

Other than that, though, enjoy the heck out of it!

Welcome to BF!

Thanks forthe welcome man. As for the Braze-ons I'm not planning on hacking them off. I feel like I have a personal stalker now I was just looking up some info on Braze-ons and such. It gives the bike character and plus I like the look of a road bike turned fixed/ss.

Nah, I'm just the semi-official BikeForums greeter, AND I am a C & V gal at heart :) .

But I am glad to hear you say it give the bike character--that it does!

Fixie

You may want to put in a solid CrMo axle. I converted a road to a fixed gear, and bent up the axle the first time I had a rapid stop!!

Welcome madein I am a bike commuter, live in Cumberland and work in South Portland, so I roll through Portland Daily.

My daily commuter is a frankenbike built from a steel touring frame. I also have a fun bike which weighs in at half the weight of the commuter.

Keep the rubber side down!
