Chicago Cycler

Hello, I am a Chicago lakefront addict. Was riding a GT mountain bike for years for exercise and commuting. When my distances started to grow and my neck started killing me, I splurged on a Specialized Allez 2 yrs ago. Now i can't get enough!! My first bike was a '88 Schwinn Tempo.
My latest is a KHS Flite 100. Its still at the shop being built, and I can only afford the stock components (for now). But i'm excited about trying out my first single speed. My Allez is my baby and i don't want to F*** it up with the Chicago streets (its just for lake trail and tours). The KHS will be for my 12 mile (one way) commute. All 12 miles is on city streets and a good stretch is full of pot holes and bumpy patches. Lots of stop and go.
Thanks to Bike Forum for the encouraging reviews and oppinions i found on the Flite 100. I think it will be a good value and ride. I'd like to learn more about the building and self maintenance of a bike. A lot of the lingo is foreign to me. I'm such a girl always taking bikes to the shop, even for simple things (like peddles and flats--don't laugh). So i will log in now and am encouraged to learn more of the "how to's" myself!
Thanks, see ya on Elston Ave... Nicki

Hi Nicki, don't feel alone, the Women's forum has a thread all about whether or not we (women) can change a flat.

Most of us can, but there are a few here who just don't have the strength in their hands to do it!

Welcome to BF!
