Hey Guys!! Noob here.... Really a Clydesdale.

I'm about as new as you can get. Never really rode as an adult until now. I rode as a youngster and used it for transportation everywhere.

At a recent Doctor's visit, the old sawbones suggested that I start exercising. For some reason, in my area, we have a pretty active cycling community. I'd see alot of folks in brightly colored tights streaking along the local roads. I always wondered how that would be.

So, after several months of wishing. I found myself in my neighborhood box store (Target). I bought a Schwinn (Pacific Cycle) Comfort / Hybrid with what I think is good componentry, Shimano, Suntour, cantilever brakes, Kenda Tires and have right at 50 miles on it so far. I have found that I LOVE this thing!! I can't imagine what it would be like on a really top notch bike!!

I ride to work 2 days a week (soon to be more) round trip is 16 miles. Good varied terrain, two decent sized hills to challenge me. Just over 43 miles this week!! I try and ride after dinner too.

I have found that I have an affinity for the Engish styled bike and am looking for a nice older Raleigh once I'm ready to move up. I have upgraded the Schwinn with a Brooks saddle, Northroad handlebars and MKS touring pedals. I have a Cat Eye cyclocomputer with cadence, Planet Bike Lightset and a Cateye Blinky.
Nashbar wedge bag, Nashbar handlebar bag and Nashbar mega rack a frame pump, spare tubes and a small tool roll round out my set up.

I have found that I'm pretty much finding any excuse I can to ride the bike! I'm not slow, I'm not fast, I'm just halfast and am having a blast!

Oh my, if you like the Schwinn now, just wait until you find a nice older Raleigh!

Where are you located? Here, take a stroll over to the Classic & Vintage forum, and say hi over there too!

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

Well, today is a lovely day here in Puget Sound, but generally we do like to have those mudguards handy .
