Hey all, I'm new to Bike Forums. I've been biking for a while, but in different places. I grew up in Appleton, WI and moved to St Paul, MN for college. I'll be a senior there in the fall, but I'm currently living (and, of course, biking!) in London for the semester. I had an old Raleigh Talon hybrid for a while (I bought it in 2003 I think), and I still own it as my main commuter bike back home. Last summer I decided that because I was biking every day for pleasure and many days as a commuter, I might as well own up and buy a nice bike. I bought a Schwinn Fastback with Tiagra/105 components from an outlet store in Oshkosh.

After I moved to study in London I was hesitant to buy a bike at first, but after about a month I could stand it no longer. I bought a Ridgeback Bora hybrid for 125 GBP. It tends a little more towards mountain than road bike which I don't like, but other than that I love it. I've had not one problem with it, and I've put a couple hundred miles on it.

I just wanted to say 'Hi'; and if anyone is in London or St Paul with advice on good bike routes I'd love to hear it! I'll probably be making a few more specific mechanical/route question threads in the near future.

Glad to be here!

Hi Elfynibs, there's several members in and around London--check in the regional sub forums for the UK. What are you studying that you moved to London to do it?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

I'm just studying history, but the teaching style is very different in the UK, so I wanted to see what its like. Overall I like school in the US better, but its been a lot of fun living and biking in London!

Yes, the teaching style is very different! Do you ever get out much beyond London?
