Bournemouth for now, Peak District soon!!!
Hi folks,
Just thought I'd introduce myself briefly as I recently found this forum At the moment I'm living in Bournemouth in Dorset but in about three and a half weeks I'm moving to the Peak District.
And THEN I'm getting back into cycling after many years out of the saddle
My main reasons are for fitness and also to cut down on car usage for things like shopping etc. so I'm looking at ideas to build my own trailer from as much recycled and scavenged material as possible. Any advice will be gratefully received.
I just hope I live to regret it

Where are you going to be in the Peak District?
Such a beautiful part of the world, makes me think I should go visit home soon.
Oh, and what are you riding?
Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

Thanks for the welcome. I'll be moving to Glossop so just on the edge of the Peaks and as for what I'm riding, well, at the moment it's just a generic el cheapo mountain bike type thing (Possibly a Townsend or something like that) that I bought some years ago purely for cheap transport. As soon as money allows, I'll be upgrading it to something better, hopefully with an alloy frame at the very least but for know, after some (Ok, a lot of ) TLC it will at least get me about and fit again.

I see Glossop will be hosting a flyover at Derwent Dam on 16 May--that would be fun to see!
As for your ride--it will do until you can upgrade .

Apparently there will only be a few hundred people allowed into the valley for the ceremony. It seems that the last time a Lancaster bomber did the flyover, there were over 85,000 people there, and the mob got out of hand.
Still, I would love to see the Lancaster. I've actually seen one--it flew into Boeing Field many years ago, but as my house is under the flight path into Boeing Field, I got an extremely good view of it (and I'm on top of a hill, so it was less than 1000 feet above at that point).
