hi from ojai

hello everyone, biking and fitness aficianodos. I have been two years into a raw vegan low fat natural hygiene based diet, studying nutrition and all aspects of health, and getting (slowly back) into fitness. I'm 26 years young and plan to live in a way that every year gets better and better. It seems to be going that way for me.

I have not been into biking in any capacity ever except as a kid and once in a while these days. I am growing increasingly passionate about the environment (turning the world back into a garden paradise) and also conscious of the financial costs of having an automobile, and for these reasons I am getting very interested in studying and practicing biking as a main means of transportation. Since it takes both theory and practice, that is how I hope to benefit from these forums. sometimes it takes time and study and courage to get into something new. However slowly I really get deeply into biking, at least I am learning and going in that direction, and it may be sooner than later. It really helps to have support, in any endeavor.

I am a nature boy- 21st century and I have nature boy friends and I have been learning about the nature boys of the past centuries- check out the book Children of the Sun by Gordon Kennedy, if you are curious. I am feeling now that the three keys to living well is fruit, nakedness in nature (meaning not just clothes but spiritually naked), and emotional connection to friends of like mind.

I plan to travel up north to northern california this summer soon for figs and fruits, and maybe go up as far as canada. We plan to go fig foraging, and go to festivals and check out some communities and just camp and live in nature spots. My friends have all done this before and they are pros, but for me it will be a first time. We plan to drive-- I think this may be wise for the first time for various reasons, but before I go I hope to get set up with a good tour bike mounted behind the back of my sedan volvo. One thing I really need to learn about bking is the technology and what I need to get outfited with. Some friends as well as people I have met or read about have done long distance biking so I know it is possible. One band went for a tour and my friend was the celloist- cello joe- and they left sacramento and lo and behold I hear they were just outside of mexico city. now I would have admitted it is possible to bike that far, but I might have been more doubtful if one was to bike that far with a cello!

I plan to go up north for the summer and fall, and I plan to go down south, to latin america for the winter and find a community or something.. and so I am studying the language, spanish when I have the time and feel like it. I feel like I will be biking and doing the car thing at first in tandem, until I am more confident I can completely get rid of the car. I am sure I could now, but why not take it slow and do it right? I am excited about the possibility of eliminating the use of the car. I am a little scared of missing out on things.. but I really feel I wouldn't have to miss out on much, if any, with using trains/busses and bikes in tandem, and planning ahead, and just changing my mindset. But I am taking the transition as fast as I can but no faster, so that means I am taking it slow.. and it is enjoyable. Right now most of the transition is only in my head, where I am thinking the thoughts and sowing the seeds, cultivating the ideas and learning the skills.

I have a blog on health and fitness called health4millions.blogspot.com which I hope to be an inspiration for others. I want all to achieve their highest level performance in every respect, but more than anything I want to be able to help others to reverse degenerative and chronic dis-eases and get back their lives, those who suffer and are in pain! I believe there is one lifestyle and diet we are meant to live but belief is important also. If you are living the perfect lifestyle but have disbelief or doubt, one can still manifest symptoms. But if you live the lifestyle and have pure faith, then you will know true health, deep well being and the hihgest level of performance and highest quality life. ok, go have fun everyone.
