Greetings from southeast Nebraska
Been poking around here the past few days and thought I'd get officially registered...
After moving to Florence, NE this winter from the inner-city, I have found some fantastic hiking areas to ride to, and have dusted off a couple of fine bicycles that have been graciously passed on to me from family members. One, an early 90s Gary Fisher mountain bike that belonged to my father. Secondly, a gorgeous Bianchi owned by my late uncle, who rode RAGBRAI for many years. I'm planning a cross-country adventure this summer and thought I'd join up on the forums to get some information/ID help on these bikes, and advice for choosing one to set up for traveling across the western USA. I'm a hammock camper and have recently been enjoying rides out to the Missouri River (and, lately, to collect morel mushrooms!). Great community here, I'm glad to have stumbled upon it!

Oh my!
A person after my own heart--fine vintage bicycles, AND a mushroom hunter. My husband and I are going out tomorrow to try (again!) to find some morels. We have yet to find any, but we enjoying going walking and birdwatching anyway. We have much better luck in the fall with chanterelles .
OK, back to business. Please take some photos of your bikes and let us drool over them in Classic & Vintage.
Are you into soil composition? Or did you start life in Eastern Washington?
Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

Yes, often mushroom hunting is less about gathering 'shrooms, and more of an excuse for a much needed walk in the woods. I always feel great even if I come out empty-handed. Not sure if chanterelles grow around here but I'd sure love to try one someday!
As for the username, there's a strip of Loess Hills just across the river in Iowa that I have spent a lot of time hiking and camping in. Really special land, to me.
Thanks for the warm welcome!

Swoons....by the way, there are a few dedicated mushroom hunters here. My husband and I are slowly learning more as the years go by.
Along with the morels, we also found Verpa conica. There seem to be various opinions on the edibility of that species, so we are sending them off to a friend. He eats Verpa bohemica without incident...so we're going to use him as a guinea pig .
