Hey from Cleveland !!
Hey everybody! I live a few miles outside of downtown Cleveland (Brooklyn) and am LOVING the Metroparks/Towpath system of trails here. I heard we have about 110 miles of paved MUPs all around me (could be off - still pretty sweet). I grew up about 45 minutes west of here in Vermilion - right next to what used to be a big deal BMX track. Pretty much lived there. Besides the past few years, I can't remember being off of my bike much ever since I was about 5 yrs old !
I'm gearing up to start commuting to work in Maple Heights about 11 highway miles away - not sure how long the bike route is yet. I'm just not looking forward to that hill on Granger Road ;(.
I'll tell you guys about my bike if you promise not to laugh. Nevermind, I've seen a lot of your bikes - go ahead and get a good laugh out of it, this one's on me !! It's a full suspension Mongoose MTB w/Transworld City tires, a Topeak trunk bag (awesome), Selle San Marco Era Luxe seat. I'm SLOWLY but surely building my "bikenstein". It'll end up having a road frame. I'm going to find a used/older frame that I like, refinish it, etc.etc.. When I get a pic of the current bike I'll put it on here (you guys need some comic relief).
Gotta get back to the commuting part of the site - tons of great tips. Thanks in advance for any helpful advice - I'm sure I'll be needing lots of it !!

Guitarrick--I will NEVER laugh at anyone's bike. As long as it gets you out and riding, I don't care what it is (as long as it's been put together safely).
I'll show you mine:
If you show me yours!
Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

It's good to hear you're riding. I started commuting to work 14 months ago and I love it. I ride 5.5 miles each way. I live on West Blvd. near the lake and I work near E.33rd and St.Clair Ave. It takes me about 25-30 min. My ride is pretty much flat except for going over the Detroit - Superior bridge. I ride home at night most of the year but I don't mind I've got some good lights. The Granger Rd. hill is going to be pretty rough - but I think you'll be fine. Best of luck to you.
