New guy from Memphis

I'm not new to biking, but mostly I have biked for transportation, meaning short distances with some speed. Today I did my first 50 miler (actually 56 if you include the wrong turn). Looking forward to more of them.

Andy

Hello Andy, was the 50 miles part of an organised ride, or did you just decided to go for it? What bike are you riding?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

Thanks for the welcome!

It was the Cycling the Germantown Greenway ride here in Memphis. I was originally going to ride the 31 mile option, but decided at the last second to try the 50 mile. Glad I did.

I've had a Lemond Nevada City for about 4 years now. It's a pretty comfortable bike, but I think after riding it that distance I need to make a few adjustments.

Yes, riding long distances tends to bring up previously hidden issues. What's comfortable at ten miles may be killing you by the end of fifty miles!

I did a metric century yesterday and I was quite comfortable. Hurrah!

I was still smiling at the end!
