Hi from Gardnerville Nevada
Im new to road biking, but I spent 20 years mountain biking in South Lake Tahoe. I want to meet people that are into LONG touring rides as I am planning a tour of the west coast. Depending on who I can get to go and how much equiptment I can afford, the entire coast is the plan. To head up to Washington dureing the hot summer weeks, and then on down to the border.
I still need a bike and everything but I would love to chat with riders that have made the trek, and those who are interested in makeing the trek. Any ideas, advice, sweet spots to visit along the way, critical items to bring, places to avoid.....anything that would be helpful in planning a safe and adventurous trek. Thanks Howard |
greetings & welcome. you'll love some of the regional chats on this forum. good luck with the journey!

Hello Howard, the coastal tour is a VERY popular one. The Touring forum folks should be able to give you lots of advice on the planning, etc.
You will be seeing some gorgeous scenery all along the route, and I think you will find it most enjoyable :D . Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) ! East Hill Forum Moderator http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...a/pinkstar.jpg |
Thanks for the kind welcome. I have been searching and searching for a bike, and honestly, I am seriously confused on which type of bike to get. I mean I want to get a bike thats fast, comfortable, and able to mount a rear rack. The choices are mind boggleing. But I really like the Kona line. Maybe even a cyclocross bike. But with know experience in the handling characteristics of road, cyclocross,or touring bikes, I'm LOST LOL :)
Any advice would be very helpfull! Thanks Howard |
