Aging Woman in Cincy

Hi. Just posting here to test. I love to lurk, but got tired of reading the messages urging me to join the forum.

Anyway, I bought my first White Peugeot 10-speed in 1973 while in high school.
Upgraded to a 1978 Fuji S10-S in 1978. Still have this one but with most everything upgraded.
Mostly ride my 1990 Bridgestone CB-0 "City Bike", an impulse buy when I lived in Chicago near Wrigley Field.

Used to:
ride a lot when I lived in Chicago,
commute to work when I lived in Seattle,
do centuries when I was in my 20's.

Now I'm just an out of shape old lady riding the hoods north of Cincinnati. I sure do miss my commute along the Puget Sound in Seattle. But I still love to bike. Maybe you folks will inspire me to get in shape.

Cheers!
Carole

Hi Carole, where did you live in Puget Sound? To me, the worst thing about not being here is no longer being able to look at Mount Rainier, and get that instant lifting of my spirits at seeing that beautiful snow covered mountain.

Say, do you have photos of any of your bikes?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

I loved Seattle, I just didn't like the economics of living there. Had to find a new job one day when my company closed it's office and ended up back in the midwest.

I used to live 4 miles north of downtown Seattle in (or on) Magnolia. I could just barely see Mt Rainier out my apartment's patio doors. When there weren't clouds, of course, The ride to work downtown was on the bike trail and came to almost 5 miles one way. Only when there was ice in the morning did I opt for the bus. There were some rainy evenings that were really motivating for getting home as fast as possible.

I don't have any photos of my bikes, but I just sold my departed-ex-husband's 1977 Fuji s10-s last week, so I have a photo of that. (He hardly ever rode it so it was in great condition.) My upgrades are a little nicer than the ones I got for him. I also found online the original brochure for my CB-0. Mine is a bit more scratched and has a rear rack and lots of flashing lights.

These are little too big to display on the forum.
