Hello from Branchport NY
Hi: I am absolutely new to biking. Last time I biked I was 21 and it was a 3speed and only for about 2 months. It is now 33 years and many pounds later and have been biking for 6 weeks. I have a Townie Electra 21 speeds which I love since it has enabled me to get moving and yet provides the safety of being able to bring both feet flat on pavement when stopping. I have arthritis in my knees and falling or depending on my knees is not easily done. I would recommend this style bike to anyone who wants to get going and moving but has issues with balance or joints.
We - my husband and I -- have been doing trails in the Finger Lakes Region of NY where we live and getting quite decent at the biking. He had biked a lot in his 20s and 30s and just bought a Raleigh 27speed. We bike usually one day on the week end 15-20 miles and trying to work up speed and increased mileage and also on Wed after work-- about 5-8 miles.
It is a most wonderful thing for fitness and stress relief as I work about 60hrs a week. People wonder what's up with me and my Townie as it makes me smile a lot. I love my bike and I love biking. It is a most awesome activity and great scenery everywhere.

Hello Lee, someone else in the Finger Lakes area just joined up this week as well! That Townie of yours is quite popular. What Raleigh did your husband get?
