Hi From Central NJ
Hi all-
I reside in central NJ with my kitty and hubby.
After much research, I finally purchased a 2008 Trek 7.3 FX WSD hybrid (thanks to a message on here about the Vita vs. Trek 7.3). I've been cycling since I was a kid but never really learned the appropriate techniques. On a daily basis, I cycled my way around my college campus (nearly a decade ago) and have been very eager to get back into cycling as a form of exercise over the past year. Finally, I got the bike and have been reading up on techniques I should have learned long ago. I have been taking my bike out with a heart rate monitor strapped to my chest while spinning. I plan to loose some of these extra pounds, maintain the weight loss, and get my handeling skills and speed to the level needed to ride some hilly roads with a local cycling group.
Any advice is much appreciated!
Thank you,
roadnpath

Hello roadnpath, it sounds as if you are off to a good start. The handling skills and speed should come over time, but there should be some beginner rides in almost any good cycling club's repetoire. That will help you learn some of the skills you need for faster rides...
