Meet the perfect me

Howdy,

My name's Matthew, I'm in college at Oberlin studying dissonant music and biology. I got turned onto bikes through Oberlin's bike co-op where I built my first bike. (an old junker Raleigh I "fixxed" up) Now I'm in Santa Fe, New Mexico, working for Obama and I want to learn more about bikes.

Because my intro to bikes was through a student co-op, I don't know anything about new parts. (new being anything in the last 15 years) So I've decided to try to envision and build my "ideal" inner-city-commuter/messenger bike. This means I'll be asking a lot of questions for a while but I promise to do my homework so I can contribute myself. Looking forward to getting to know some of you!

In Cooperation,
Matthew

Welcome to BikeForums. Since you want to built an inner city commuter bike, I'd suggest you hang around the Bike Mechanics and Commuting forums. Lots of great info.

Oh, sorry to hear that you're working for the devil, er, I mean Obama.

Hi Matthew, if you don't know a lot about new parts, perhaps you should cultivate that knowledge of older parts into a love of vintage bikes!

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !
