Just saying Hey
Hey guys, new to the forums. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a 21 yr old college student just about to get back into riding to save on gas and I could use the excersize. Well, I'll be getting my bike by the end of the month(money's been tight, just started a new job) Once I get back in the swing of things I'll be riding from work to school as I need the guzzler for occasional trips to the customers business, but I'll be averaging about 100 miles a week after a month or two of riding. Once I'm back in shape I'll top off at 200 miles a week
I can't wait to see my bike bonus at the end of the month.
Well I can't wait to get back in the saddle so I'm counting on the advise of all the veterans out there to help me on my quest.
Oh, if you didn't figure it out I'm in Southern CA

Hi SCC, what bike are you getting yourself? If you haven't already found it, there's a regional SoCal forum...

I'll probably be getting myself a mtb to hold my weight. Fit it with slicks, fenders and a rack. Haven't really looked at any perticular model. I was looking at schwinn comfort bikes but decided against it after checking out some reviews and seeing what people like riding.
As for bikes though, I'll be heading down to the local police auction next weekend to see if I can't get a steal there. If nothing meets my needs it's on the the LBS.

Ok, I got my bike, specialized rockhopper, and it rides like a dream. The police auction fell through so I checked craigslist and lucked out The guy that sold it to me overhauled the hubs (or so he says.) I got it for a hundred bucks with a good helmet and a cable lock. Has 26x1.5 tires(slicks) and a rack. All in all it's in great shape, and I must say it's probably the nicest bike I've ever owned which is kinda sad when you think about it. But anyway, I love it and that's what matters.
